Why patience is the answer to healing

“One thing is for sure -there’s no rushing healing. That’s why the answer is patience. Patience is both preventative as well as the remedy.”

No one really wants to hear that they must be patient. Sure, patience is a virtue, but it takes time to develop it. And really, who wants to wait for that?

I know I didn’t. When I was younger, I often made rash decisions, even running far ahead of myself to get to the next best thing. When I saw something I wanted, I would quickly focus my energy on getting to that thing – that goal, that level, that desire.

All it took was a hard fall to halt me right in my tracks, setting me even farther back than I had ever been before. I’m talking about mental exhaustion.

After experiencing that, I had no other choice than to sit down and wait. Wait for what? Wait for healing.

See healing takes time. There is no quick road or quick remedy to speed up the healing process. Think of a wound on your body. It takes time and there is a process that it goes through. Now think about your mind and how you really have no idea how far along you are in your healing – because it is not visible. All you can do is wait without any definitive answer – except one. That is – to be patient.

One thing is for sure -there’s no rushing healing. That’s why the answer is patience. Patience is both preventative as well as the remedy.

When all else fails and you feel you have no choice – choose to wait. If I had never waited patiently during my own healing, I doubt I would have ever fully healed.

And if I had been patient, to begin with, I could have avoided the fall that led me to such a bad mental state.

So, the lesson here is to be patient in your healing as well as in life in general. Don’t rush into anything because when the time is right your heart will know.

What do you think? How has waiting or patience helped you?
